OldNeumanntapr Notes-
I couldn't believe that Mickey and his band were playing SLO Brew! The place is so small, for a band that size. Mickey's drums took a third of the stage, and he had musicians crowding on each side, in the wings.
This was the first show at SLO Brew that I tried hanging my Neumann KM-140s from the front ceiling post. It worked out really well, as the venue didn't want me to bring in a stand. The front post is about 8 feet from the center of the stage. I thought the band sounded really good. I really like Mickey's 'Planet Drum' material, but some people were there just to hear Dead tunes. The last time I had seen Mickey was when I recorded 'Planet Drum' at the Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara in '99. I had heard that the sound crew had trouble with the board recording and missed the first part of the show on this night, so I’m glad that I have a complete recording.
