Total Time ::: 2:19:27

::: Quite fine for its era but slightly distant, far crisper than before & longer!. Check samples for drop out or drop in potential.
::: Warts: Yes. This was not carefully remastered. Has AUD noise, clapping, distortion in places, etc. Some cuts like #07 starts late, #13 starts 3 seconds late & #14 has a tapeflip splice in drums (& maybe others)
::: CONTRAST CLAUSE: This is the Mk1 96kHz/24-bit version. The Mk2 44.10kHz/16-bit version is available elsewhere.
::: COMPARISON CLAUSE: This is NOT the Jim Cooper AUD (shn#123814 "Recorder 1") that has been around for some time.
::: COMPARISON CLAUSE: Trax #01-09 previously circulated as 5th gen (shn109535). This UPGRADES & EXPANDS that version.
::: THIS is ALL from the same unknown taper (Early&Late shows, incomplete as noted, Recorder 2, shnid#xxxxxx).
::: Trax #10-17 UNCIRCULATED online & appear to be "new" to common circulation from this Recorder 2 source.
::: If there's still any date confusion about 1970-02-12 vs 1970-02-13 (is there?), this should kill it.
::: "Casey Jones" was out of order on cassettes but re-ordered per deadlists & Jim Cooper.
::: February 11,12,13 Fillmore run with Love, Allman Bros, Grateful Dead.

Recording Information ::: unknown mono recording equipment -> master tapes -> 1st generation analog (no digital beforehand) Maxell XLII-90 cassettes, Dolby B on.

Playback 2018-xx-xx ::: 1st generation Maxell XLII-90 cassettes on Nakamichi 680ZX cassette deck, Dolby B on, azimuth adjusted for individual tapes, heads cleaned & demagnetized -> Sony Linear PCM Recorder PCM-M10 -> 96kHz/24-bit WAV files -> computer -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset & channel/phase alignment for a few cross-channel patches, fades, some popmute on clapping in placed to make overall levels work, volume adjustments, 1st 75mins -2.1% then the rest at -2.4% averaged pitch (speed) fixes with single pass per segment after frequency analysis & with pitchpipe verification (but it ain't perfect), NO equalisation or noise reduction] -> wavs -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. First uploaded 2019-02-xx. (NOTE: After remastering, only R channel used of this mono recording, as it solved a wavering issue).

Line-up ::: Jerry Garcia - acoustic & electric guitars, vocals // Bob Weir - acoustic & electric guitars, vocals // Ron McKernan - keyboards, vocals // Phil Lesh - electric bass, vocals // Bill Kreutzmann - drums, percussion // Mickey Hart- drums, percussion.

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.

DimeTravel 491 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! ::: Corrections welcome ::: Since I started collecting, this has been considered one of THE classic Dead shows, and it's hard to disagree even after the multitude we been blessed with since. Here's an expanded upgrade of this source. SBDs do exist, but this is cool, for example, you realise just how stunned the audience really was in places. And, perhaps someone has some other matrixing ideas... "Stereo" audience renderings are often very effective (This would need some more cleanup work for that purpose as it's fairly untampered-with). If nothing else, this should provide a patch for "Dark Star" near the end so someone can EQ match & use it with the Cooper source for a better SBD/AUD matrix, which will make it worth the price of admission for some, I'm sure, as it is one of THE outstanding "Dark Stars". Can't remember my source for this, but I believe the master tapes were borrowed by a friend & copied for me at the same time (not by the Florida Kid as I had believed at one time). Many thanks to whomever it was. Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees
