probably do not correspond directly with the tracks (as I like to do
with tracking my uploads whenever I can.) but they are in correct sequence.

comments:
Soon before I planned to up this concert I saw another post of it
on dime which did not say a generation, and I've decided to up my
version because I suspect it would be better quality (definitely from
a good 1st gen. aud.). this torrent is basically by request for Bob in
Canada, and for anyone else who likes this group as much as he and I do.
A couple of the songs were slightly cut (none really badly) at
beginning by the master taper of this trying to avoid that 45 minute
flip cut so common to Weather Report cassette recordings. (Which he did).
I don't think any songs are cut in the middle, this is essentially the
entire show and a fine one it was at the Berklee (as Al DiMeola wailed
away during his run at Paul's Mall down the street). A good recording
too, made on a Sony 152 with decent mikes and Maxell cassettes (I think
XL's, before they had XL-I or XLII, basically the precurser to the XLI),
my copy on XLI. I have this and Jan. 1980 Weather Report Boston shows
posted the 1980 show was first posted (at my request) by Doinker. the
1981 Boston show was recently posted by lestat in a very nice quality.
I had one version of Boston 1978 that I helped make from near the back and
then came across a different source for that which was posted.
That one is also a fine show but these two are both better recording
quality (closer up to stage). This isn't quite as close up as
the 1980 one which is one of the best recordings I've ever made (6th
row!), but alot closer than my 78 one and it's at Berklee, a great
place to hear almost any kind of music (even in the back row). If you
are among the thousands (millions?) of Weather Report fans you will
find this (and 1980 show) both very pleasant listening and needing no
audio file editing. You can break this up on 2 discs 2 different ways-
I chose Track 10 as the best place to begin disc 2 but Jaco's bass solo
(track 6) would be suitable if you prefer it that way.  All
3 of these are very enjoyable listening for music and sound.
I have not done any fadeins or fadeouts except at beginning and end of
show, and to smooth out some abrupt shutoffs of the recorder just as a
song ended. This has been circulated some on tape but it's the 1st time
I've seeded this, when I first put it to CD I was having computer problems
galore and it sounded lousy, (that copy fortunately was not circulated
much if at all) so I remastered it (knowing the recording sounded much
better) and it sounds better than ever before now.
I'd like to find a recording of Weather Report Orpheum Boston 4/19/76,
and whenever they played Boston in 75. Sept. 74 Boston show has been posted.
The 76 would be (I think) one of the 1st shows with Jaco. Ironically I
have the Shakti set from 3 sources (one here on dime- shopkin) but none
of them have the headline set of Weather Report.
That was my 1st time seeing WR in concert and like the 3 that followed, all
very good concerts. Actually the 76 one was probably the least good performance
of the 4 WR shows I've seen (but still a good time). Do they ever play
anything less than that? If so, I've yet to hear it, and that's just fine.
Anyone who can walk onstage and follow that Shakti set with a good concert
has my respect. It really seems like WR should have opened that show. Not
ironically at all, that would be the last time Weather Report played Boston
on a twin-billing. In 1984 the Regurgitated Mahavishnu was supposed to open
for Weather Update but Maha cancelled out, and I returned my (3rd row dead
center) tickets because I was jonesin' for the regurgitation. In hindsight,
I suspect I made a mistake doing that, and suspect Maha may have felt they
would be making a mistake opening for Weather Update (Maha. later played
their own gig in the same location- the Opera House.)
do not sell this recording.
Trade freely and losslessly.
