::: EXC up-front stereo AUD. Check samples for "I'll be movin' on" or "Fill me up to bustin'" type assimilations.
::: Warts: Repaired dullspots & dropouts but surely missed a few & a 2 minor ones that didn't want to be fixed easily. Taper cut off deck briefly between some trax. #04 microsplice/split sec missing. Most near-mike claps during music fixed but still some low level ones #22, & clapping thru #24.
::: COMPARISON CLAUSE: Mk1 is shn#87606 (NOT! SBD as listed) 2005 download. This is the Mk2 remaster repairing a number of issues.
::: NEWSPAPER AD for this gig at https://gdsets.com/73posters/1975_04_19a.jpg
::: Robbie Hoddinott (lead gtr_R.I.P.2017) & Dave Torbert (bass_R.I.P.1982) had been busted so Doug Sahm sat in.
::: Listed online as SBD but is a direct at PA tape. Likely taper talk before "Around&Around".Anyone recognise the voices?
::: Mikes are so close to stage & stereo spread so wide there's often a delay (especially notable in near-mike claps).
::: Last song "Around&Around" was on my CD-R & sounds like same show, but not listed on e-tree.
::: Since the entire show is cover songs, I attempted to list the songwriters. Pardon me for any errors.
::: Ad notes Jerry Inman&the Palamino Riders (house band) as appearing nightly, so guess they opened.
::: Sir Douglas Quintet featuring Doug Sahm was booked at The Palamino for the following 2 nites.
::: Kingfish played Santa Barbara County Bowl the next nite, opening for Phoebe Snow & Jackson Browne.
::: More info at this EXC site: http://lostlivedead.blogspot.com/2009/10/bob-weir-and-kingfish-tour-history.html
::: lostlivedead says,"A person who attended the show described it as 'almost a Weir solo show."
::: Setlist interesting with a number of songs the Dead were more apt to cover & other covers rarely played by Kingfish.
::: Best audience song request for a Kingfish show, "New Potato Caboose!"
::: I'm MISSING the Early Show which seems to have been taped. Can YOU supply it? It would be MUCH appreciated!
::: Early Show SETLIST: Promised Land/El Paso/CC Ryder/Swinging Doors/Big River/Feel So Bad/Bobby McGee/Around&Around/JB Goode.
::: USUALLY I'd request original files to replace CD-R gen but lots of remastering done, so this is fine unless someone has masters...
::: A friend who saw Kingfish early on in California said it was so energetic people were literally dancing on the tables.
::: 1st "Kingfish" LP issued 1976-03-xx on Dead's Round Records label but sounds like it was recorded in '75.
Total Time ::: 57:49
Recording Information ::: unknown stereo recording equipment -> master stereo audience tape -> ? -> DAT -> CD-R -> EAC -> shns (2005 download) -> CD-R -> dBpoweramp CD Ripper -> unknown generation wavs.
Remastering 2020-05-25 ::: unknown generation 44.10Hz/16bit WAV files -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, bump, clap, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, -1% single averaged pitch (speed) fix with after frequency analysis, NO equalisation or noise reduction] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. Freed 2020-06-xx.
Line-up ::: Robert Hall Parber (aka "Bob Weir") - electric guitar, vocals // Matthew "Matt" Kelly - electric guitar, harmonica, vocals // Douglas "Doug" Wayne Sahm (aka Wayne Douglas aka Doug Saldana) (R.I.P. 1999) - electric bass, vocals // Chrisopher "Chris" Herold - drums, percussion.
Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.
DimeTravel 636 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders & uploader! ::: Corrections welcome ::: Searched for this for a while online, then realised I already had a CD-R buried in the depths. Real interestin'. What I always like about Kingfish was it bent Bob one of several directions he excelled in & this is a fine collection of covers. Even my least fave of the lot, "The Battle Of New Orleans" has that great Weir "Sunshine Daydream" circa 1970-10-04 wah-wah pedal sound... Hope to hear the early show sometime, it should be equally cool. Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees
