OldNeumanntapr Notes:
This was my 'Last Time' recording the Dead at Cal Expo. It was a really long drive from San Luis Obispo County, but I really enjoyed that venue. For these shows I elected to patch my Sony WM-D6C into my friend John's Nakamichi CM300x3 rig, which I ended up buying from him later that year when he decided to purchase a set of Audio Technica AT-853a stealth microphones.
This was the show where I met Bear Owsley. He came into the tapers section and borrowed a cable from my friend John, and John turned to me and said, "Do you know who this IS? This is Bear!" I said hi to him and he gave me a dirty look when I asked if he had any 'samples'! I remember that he was really short, and that he had a little leather case of some of the Grateful Dead-related jewelry that he had made and was selling. For some reason I could not find my ticket stub to the previous night's show, June 9, but I had two stubs from this show, June 10.
