First time in circulation, this recording comes from the same evening that yielded my Little Feat recording posted earlier--a triple bill with Leon Russell, on a balmy July night-ten years ago-at the shore of the Hudson river. The Nevilles live were a revelation to me. I had been a fan of the Meters' studio recordings for some years, but had never seen any of the various related bands live. So as soon as the Nevilles launched into "Hey Pocky A-Way", they had me in the palm of their hand. They never lost the groove while incorporating all kinds of tunes into their tight medleys (I wonder if Pete Seeger could hear his tune wafting just down the river to Beacon...)., always yielding a surprise and keeping the crowd into it. A lovely show, all around.

About the recording: I was about fifteen rows from the stage and the live mix was decent enough. There are a few hiccups with the recording, the most obvious being that "Don't Know Much" gets cut off. (My apologies to the ladies out there.) I faded it to make the cut less jarring. Keeping audience noise in check was another challenge, so here and there I used some compression. The closing jam with Little Feat on stage with the Nevilles fades out as my disc was running out, but you'll get enough of it to get the vibe. Essentially the whole show is here.

If you know the name of the last song referencing the Wild Tchoupitoulas let me know! The band line-up is to the best of my knowledge and memory. If you have any corrections, please don't hesitate to let me know. I welcome feedback.

Enjoy, but never sell or buy this recording!
