Editing notes
* Record levels changed several times during the original recording. I made the following adjustments:
-- First 14.3 seconds lowered 5 db
-- First 3:26 lowered another 2 db
-- First 6:01 lowered 6 db
-- From 6:01 to 9:46 (i.e., through first roughly 2-1/2 minutes of Africa) was lowered 3 db
-- After those changes, everything was raised 8.1 db
-- Levels fluctuated again during Liver Spash. I adjusted the levels (down about 3 db) starting about 2:24 into the track, extending over about 11 seconds.
* There were severe feedback issues throughout the recording. Using iZotope's "magic wand" selection tool coupled with the application's Spectral Repair module, I selected and attenuated the worst instances;

Notes
The first 6:01 seems to have been recorded at 32 kHz and then the taper evidently changed the rate to 48 kHz (there is a barely perceptible break where this change apparently occurs). Before the break there's a steep frequency range dropoff at 16 kHz (corresponding to a sample rate of 32 kHz); afterward the frequency range extends to 24 kHz.

I received this recording on DAT circa 1996-1997 from David McGee. I transferred it to hard drive in September 2004. At that time, I tracked it out using a .wav file I had converted to 44.1 kHz in order to burn it to CDR. For this, however, I went back to the original 48 kHz transfer and tracked it using my original edits as a guide. I also made volume adjustments based on my original notes (see above) and addressed some feedback issues.
