Recording by Mike Martin
sony ecm 909 (mid side stereo mic) > Sony TCD D6 with Dolby C using 3 Maxell UDXLII C-90 cassettes
Transfer
Nakamichi CR-7A Azimuth adjusted with Dolby B bias @ 70usec > Korg MR2000-s @ 1 bit 5.6 MHz DSDIFF
AudioGate (24-96) > iZotope RX6 advanced & Har-Bal 3.0 (prep) > CD Wave > AudioGate Aqua (16-44) > TLH

Something was turned up too loud and by around Jungle Rot a crackling sound begins to creep into the PA and by "Sponge Cookie" it had gotten noticable.
A crackle filter helped quite a bit in reducing that sound although it is still audible, just not nearly as loud now.
Thanks to modern software.
Increasing the bass frequencies helped to hide this "fuzz tone" sound some more and the recording needed more low end anyhow (inexpensive microphone).
The concert went on past this point for another 2 sets.
The distortion just becomes too annoying and so it is not included here.

The costume contest was AMAZING!!!
I've been to some killer costume parties before but never anything like this.
The patio was full of very well thought out and elaborate costumes.
Not the sort of things you buy at a Halloween supply warehouse.
The dance floor was full of exhibitionists and Martyn makes a comment about it at one point.

I had found a chair on one side just in front of the PA and recorded from there (hand holding the mic still).
The PA was just in front of me which sounded good initially but once the speaker blew out I should have moved.
Problem was that I was in the Twilight Zone after an early morning start with an all-day drive and then some drinks.

A side note is that this would be the last time I used my trusty Sony D-6 cassette recorder.
It was dropped when a drunk careened into me from across the dance floor and the cover never worked right after that.
Went digital and bought the D3 to replace it.
So this was the end of a long run of sneaking cassette decks into concerts.

Enjoy…
