MAC (8mm camera with dual Sony ECM 77-B mics > Sony EV-S1 8mm Recorder >
Sony EV-S1 8mm Recorder > Canopus ACEDVio Capture Card > Ulead Videostudio version 7 > DVD or VCD
Audio:
Source 1: Unknown Sbd - all of set 1 (wave files clipped in second set)
Source 2: master sbd cass>dat>cdr - all of set 2 except drumsspace and encore
Source 3: SBD PCM>DAT x3>WAV>SHN with SBD PCM>CASS>DAT>WAV patch all sources>Cool
Edit Pro>Video used only during the drums
Note: After capturing the video, the audience soundtrack (from the video) was exported
and then loaded into Cool Edit Pro along with a copy of the sbd audio. Then, an unique
note at approximately 1 minute intervals on the video soundtrack was found and matched
to the same note from the sbd. Some modification (ie stretching or shrinking) to the
length of these segment was required in order for the sbd to flawlessly match the
captured video. The original video audience track was then muted and the sbd tracks
imported as background music prior to creating the master dvd.
The video was captured at 720x480 resolution (DVD) at 4000bitssec to create the original
mpeg2 file. The camera was on a tripod and a 50-200mm lens was used for some great closeups.
After the sound was imported and the dvd burned, the mpeg2 file was rendered to 352x240 to
make VCD disks.
AudioVideo Flaws:
1) First 51.801 seconds of start of 1st set was added from the video to give a better lead in.
2) The rest of the first set was flawless - audio source (1).
3) First 25.4561 seconds of start of 2nd set was added from the video to give a better lead
in and provide first notes of Shakedown Street.
4) 4.376 seconds from source (1) to fill in the second Phil note that was missing from source (2).
5) Switched to source (2) at 29.822 into the 2nd set.
6) Video loses sync at 15:20 during the middle of Women are Smarter and there was a .300 sec
gap on the video before it starts up again. I filled in using the last frame before the gap
that transitioned into the first frame after the gap with no cut in the music from the sbd.
7) The rest of Women are Smarter (4:28.3) - video is degraded but colorful.
8) Video regains sync at 19:49 about 15 seconds into Terrapin Station and there was a .857
second gap on the video before it starts up again. I filled in using the last frame before
the gap that transitioned into the first frame after the gap with no cut in the music from
the sbd.
9) Video quality is good through the rest of Terrapin Station.
10) Switch to audio source (3) at 32:50 into the video as source (2) is missing.
11) Video loses sync at 32:54 about 10 seconds into the Drums and there was a .567 second
gap on the video before it starts up again. I filled in using the last frame before the gap
that transitioned into the first frame after the gap with no cut in the music from the sbd.
Video quality is out of sync for the next minute.
12) Video is cut at 34:03 after about 1:09 seconds into the Drums and there was a 11:53.167
gap on the video before it starts up again. I filled in with a slowed down copy of the drum's
video and special effects with no cut in the music from the sbd. After the cut, video quality
is better.
13) Switch to audience soundtrack that came with video at 46:01 into the video as all soundboard
source are missing. This lasts for 24.215 seconds.
14) Switched to audio source (3) at 46:26 into the video as soundboard source resumes after cut.
15) Video is cut at 47:57 at about 1 minute 20 seconds before GDTHFB starts and there was a 1.033
second gap on the video before it starts up again. I filled in using the last frame before the gap
that transitioned into the first frame after the gap with no cut in the music from the sbd.
Switched back to audio source (2) when video resumes.
16) Video is cut at 56:37 after about 1 minute 07 seconds into Watchtower and there was a 54.100
second gap on the video before it starts up again. I filled in using the last frame before the
gap that transitioned into the first frame after the gap with no cut in the music from the sbd.
Video quality stays good until the end of the 2nd set.
17) Video is cut at 3 minutes 43 seconds into Knockin' on Heaven's Door. I filled in the rest
of the song using random pictures taken during the encore with special effects with no cut in
the music from the sbd. Audio source (2) was used during the encore.
