"Mid-Rift" is a collection of alternate mixes from Phish's Rift sessions in 1992
It's my understanding that these tracks all pre-date the second session at The Castle in Nashville.
These would all be before mastering, but was mastered for this release. This is NOT for sale.

Rift (take six)
The basic tracking of the "keeper" take. You will hear only scratch (reference) vocals.
The mix is live-to-two-track with different panning, levels, effects, etc.

Fast Enough For You (alt mix)
Without vocal overdubs. Fades out earlier than the final version.

Maze (alt mix)
Without the cock sound effect. It includes about four measures more on top than the album version.
Without the laughter overdub alter "enjoy a good laugh". Missing brief organ embellishments throughout.
Missing delay on guitar four bars out from end of guitar solo. Has delay at very end that is not present on final mix.

Sparkle (alt mix)
Similar to the final version. Subtle differences. This is missing the "yeehaw!" vocal toward the end.

Horn (bad take)
An abandoned take from the original tracking session.

Horn (alt mix)
Very close to final version. Missing organ overdub. Longer tail out where it would later fade into The Wedge.

My Friend, My Friend (alt mix)

This includes four extra measures at the top, the last of which fades in from The Wedge on the final album. There are some overdubs missing from this mix. Without the panning, bell-like part in the first section. The entire organ part is not present as well as a guitar part after "lights the fuse". This includes an alternate guitar part during the end build. On the final this was replaced, but parts of this first take are still used where you hear two lead guitars. During the outro the reverb is significantly different. There is a snippet of post roll where you can hear laughter from the vocal overdub session.

Weigh (alt mix)
Again, very close to final version. Includes the overdubs but is a different mix.
