Run For the Roses is really "My Old Kentucky Home"

"Run For the Roses is really 'My Old Kentucky Home'" << uh, no it's not. "Run for the Roses" is a Garcia/Hunter tune that Jerry played with his side projects. Regardless, the song played here is "It Must Have Been the Roses" not "Run for the Roses"
Oh, sorry. At some point during the show Jerry plays My Old Kentucky Home (thought that was it)- not noted in the txt.
Source info is wrong, there's actually a cassette gen between the master reel and DAT.

Yeah, "Run for the Roses" is a Garcia/Hunter tune written about the KY Derby. "My Old Kentucky Home" is a Stephen Foster composition and is our state song. I guess most all know the song "It Must've Been the Roses" and that it is neither of the prior. Haven't heard the show yet, but I'll comment if I hear My Old KY Home, since most not from KY wouldn't recognize that!

"My Old Kentucky Home" is played during this show, but solely by Jerry as a quote in the guitar solo to "Beat It On Down the Line."
Kind of a jazzy thing to do. The only other rock guitarist who quoted like that would be Nigel Tufnel, when he quoted "God Save the Queen" or something in "Tonite I'm Gonna Rock You."

Yeah, Garcia definitely plays My Old Kentucky Home as part of his solo on BIODTL. The fusion of the two songs is done so well. Not very long, but fantastic none the less. How freakin' cool!

Does anyone know of an audience recording of this show? I have a very old cassette wherein the Blues jam just prior to Stella Blue is snipped...it is patched with an audience patch that sounds very very interesting. I'd love to hear this whole show in audience. Did Jerry Moore tape it???

The taping compendium volume 1 lists an Aud in circulation, taped by Marty Steckler. (C+ grade, 3:00 hrs) complete??
I have never seen this circulated in cdr or shn format though. Maybe some dat-heads can give some insight concerning dat circulation.
Also, Thank You Robert, Michael & John for the invaluable resource known as the 1st compendium, the reviews are without compare i.m.o

Disc 2 actually has 9 tracks, not 8 as listed in the text file. The extra track is between Let It Grow and The Other One and is basically a spacey jam.

The text file for this remaster says it came from the original sacks/hollister source which had a cass gen. The remaster text file above now says straight from the msr. What happened to the cass gen???

IMO the cass gen is still there. I doubt VERY much that Ashley had this straight from the reels. Very very much. Not likely at all. This textfile should be revised.

When David and I originally seeded the original, non-bertha version, the initial text file indicated that the source was msr>d. We subsequently found out that the source was msr>c>d, but the original shnset's text file still had the "msr>d" notation. This is likely the source of the confusion for the Bertha remaster's text file.
