this shn file has a bunch of problems that are not listed in the txt file. here is what i found. from just before "mexicalli" through "playing in the band", the tape hiss increases significantly. although you hear the level of the tape hiss change slightly throughout the show, this portion is obviously from a higher gen source. d1t02,d1t04 & d2t04 are all missing the first few notes. between d2t04/d3t01 there is a big pop. between d3t01/d3t02 there is another nasty glitch

guitars are almost non-existant in this source.

I'm puzzled. Low guitars? Jerry is right at stereo center with Phil, Bob is in the left, and Keith is on the right. The mix and sound are nice. Also, increased hiss can mean a lower signal to noise ratio that can result from the levels being turned down. But the hiss on this is really only noticeable when there is no music or tuning. Even during the very quiet parts, the cymbals and light guitar playing are nice and clear. I think this sounds damn nice. Besides, I'd rather have the hiss and the additional high end than some screwed up NR attempt. Nice seed.

Guitars non-existent...? What rig are you listening on..? You make it sound that this show is unlistenable, which it certainly isn't.

Fine seed IMHO...

I concur with the others here that the guitars are basically fine in this source. I mean, there is always room for improvement, but to say they are virtually non-existent is way overstating any problem with the mix.

This source DOES NOT have a cassette gen. Look at the following spectral. It's too quiet to have a cassette gen. There is virtually no noise.

I followed this thread on the bit torrent site and I can confirm that this is actually from Dick Latvala's cassette that he made off of the vault master reels onto his Tascam 122mkII. Rob Eaton digitized the cassette to Dat.

Although, part of the 2nd set does circulate direct from the master reel (WR Suite>Dark Star>China Doll). So if you checked any of those songs, then yes, it may be master reel. I do have the complete 2nd set from the vault master reels but I have never circulated it.
