This source is pretty good. It resembles the Shoepps feel that I have been accustomed to more so than any of the later fall seeds (9-24 on) This is not necessarily a good thing. I think they sound a *bit* muddy. As opposed to a similar(but different) rig on 10-7, that i think sounds exceptionally good. I dont know if this makes any sense to anybody, but the Shoepps sources from this tour were generally exceeding my expectations, and this one falls closer to what i expect, that is...a muddy sound.
Alot of you like that sound though...The show itself, however, is great.

I agree with the above comments, except to say this source, to me, sounds pretty close to the
quality of 10-7. This recording has nice bass response and each instrument sounds clear in the mix.
That said, I agree with the comments on Schoeps often having a "muddy" feel to the mix (even though
each instrument does have good clarity individually in the recording). Oh! that Piper->Guy Forget!!!

The set list is incorrect for this show, set 1 song 6 should be Inlaw Josie Wales not Minestrone. Sounds great, thanks!

Thanks Tim, I've now fixed the typo in the info file here.

It's not a 'typo' per say, I have chose to name the song as such. I am still stcuk on Minestrone, and it may take me a while to get off!

The song is Minestrone. That's what it was on Trey's solo '99, that's what it will always be. Sorry, I just hate it when people call it the Inlaw

Schoeps are not 'muddy' mics in themselves. They tend to be very heavy on the low end...which i like a lot...but the high end is where they are lacking in my opinion. I will come out and say that i don't like the sound of Schoeps high end...especially in large arenas/sheds. I do understand what people say when they characterize Schoeps as muddy and I attribute that to the unpleasing high end sound.

I have had the pleasure of running a pair of Schoeps for just under a half a year now and I really dig the low end bass response. Im not a big fan of the 'highs' but I think they perform exceptionally well in smaller rooms...and they're great for stealthing :)

in preparation for seeding to bt.etree i have been comparing this and the AKG source for a few days, very loudly via my computer which is wired from my soundcard to my home stereo system. mainly i compared First Tube, Roses Are Free, Piper > Jam (Guy Forget), and Camel Walk. After listening many times over, I prefer the AKG source to this Schoeps source. Just offering up my opinion, YMMV.
