Can someone comment on how this seed compares to the CDRs that have been around for years? Thanks.

Soundforge is used as a recording device from the DAT machine to the hard drive, nothing more.

I don't know how they compare, because I don't have time to listen through them side by side. I do know that the lineage is low gen and true, and I always go for the seeds closest to the source if I can. That's just me and my obsession, others may not care. I'm just sharin' some tunes...

I'm just asking because, well, it might be worth getting if there was any improvement over the old version. If not, it's just added redundancy.

I'd rather have a SHN set created from a low gen DAT rather than an EAC of a CD or a lineage with ?'s in it, so I guess these are for lineage freaks only.

This shn set is most definitely an upgrade over previous sources. Besides the avoidance of an unnecessary EAC step that Joe refers to, there is also clearly less hiss in this version and definitive source information. There are quite a few DAT sources out there that just haven't reached the shn stage (like for instance the 'new' clearly upgraded 4/27/77 that Joe did a couple of weeks ago), and Joe should be saluted for putting the work into getting them out there.

Actually, this version has slightly MORE hiss than the previous one, but it sounds like it might be because the previous version had some NR applied at some point. Ths hiss isn't obtrusive (i.e., you can only hear it between songs for the most part) and as a result this one sounds a little brighter. Also, the channels are switched on this version.
