Grateful Dead 4/27/71
Fillmore East New York, NY
MSR 7 inch (7.5 ips) Revox A 77 >Alesis Masterlink>CD-R
The new Vault release, "Ladies and Gentlemen, the Grateful Dead" is a compilation of all five shows from the April, '71 Fillmore run. LAGTGD is from the multitrack masters and is commercially available on Arista, or from GDM at http://mars.dead.net
For the obsessive completist collectors, here are the complete 4-27-71 NRPS & Dead Sets directly from two-track masters.
Errata: Lodi fades in already in progress. Hard To Handle starts late and has some sound fluctuations in the first minute or two. Sugar Magnolia fades in already in progress. There is a splice in the segue between Uncle John's Band and Lovelight. The faults listed above are consistent with previous versions

Anybody else notice what sounds like something playing backwards in the background? It is very noticable during the break between Cumberland and Bobby McGee. Sound like the reverse side of the tape seeping through, but I didn't think that could happen with reel tapes.

Personal favorite moment during this show- Bobby forgets the lyrics and doubles the third verse of Playin in the Band...:-)

Why is this "Lovelight" cut at the end while the one on the released 4-CD set LADIES AND GENTLEMEN is complete?

Because this is from 2 track reels made by a non band/crew member and the official release came from the bands 16 track master reels.

And the band's 2 track master reels also have the complete lovelight. I'm doing 24 bit transfers off of the master reels and will put it out with a complete lovelight.
