SOURCE:
SBD > DAT > DAT clones > my DAT > ZA-2 > wave (via Cool Edit) > CD-R master
No editing was performed other than cutting the wave into disc-size segments.

CONVERSION:
CD-R master > EAC > waves > MKW shorten > .shn

Mastering and conversion by John McAtee, johnm@coresoft.com.  Seeded to etree January 2001.

NOTES:
Tracking was done the way it was at the request of a dear friend, so don't flame me
about the tuning tracks 'cause I don't usually do it that way!

Another version of these shortens circulate with an INCORRECT lineage that does
not list the EAC stage.  It has different track names, but the checksums are the same.

The "noise" that appears at times is NOT noise, but the heaviest bursts of rain I've
ever seen at a show.

I was soaked at this show after about the third note of Let the Good Times Roll.Rain came in buckets and didn't let up until near the end of the show.Technical difficulties left Garcia's guitar buried for much of Bertha and finally kicked in during the second part of the lead. All in all a very solid first set.The second set featured a funny Phil
"take a step back".The highlight was a full 24 minute Dark
Star and a set closing "Touch of Grey" that seemed appropriate The crowd roar in the middle of Touch was when they raised up their giant skeleton.
As far as quality goes, this is not exactly perfect but still quite good. It's a dsb/aud mix which normally is great but some loud talking woman on the audience portion can be
heard clearly especially during "Music Never Stopped".
Fortunately this is absent in the second set.An unkind splice during "Touch of Grey" is also a bit annoying but all in all a worthwhile download.(sorry for the long rant :))

This recording sounds like an audience mic in front of a stack to me. You can hear people's comments and outbursts from some girl especially during "Music". I was at this show and the effects during "Take a step back" were in surround.

unfortunately, the very end of d3t05 "the weight" is cut.

The woman you hear is one of the stage roadies

Listener Jim reports: "The proper lineage for this show is SBD>DAT>C>DAT
CLONES... I... downloaded it but it was exactly the
same dat I've had for years. The evidence for this conclusion lies
simply in listening to the tape. There are two obvious cassette
flips in the second set on my DAT... [that] must have been [spliced here]. The most obvious is on Touch @ around 1:40 the
other is @ the end of Dark Star @ around 20:17 listen carefully you
will hear it. The third source of evidence is the analogue or
cassette hiss throughout the entire show although much more
noticeable during quiet portions this is not rain as you guessed,
but boy did it rain hard and what a show."

For the record, the stage roadie says,

"[muffled]... High as you can get it."

I guess she was talking about hoisting a rain shield of some kind. After listening to this version of MNS 100+ times, it's kind of a welcome addition. Phil does some incredible playing in this show, and he is generally mixed way up (Yes!!) Great, great show, both sets.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE. Can someone please seed a copy of this show that is a real Dsbd or a cassette master that doesn't have the cassette flips and cut on the Weight. Come on Scott or Willy you guys rock. Thanks in advance. Jack

This is a Healy recording with his audience mics in the mix. A digital copy of the SB exists in D2 video format ( A view from the vault from this tour - we taped every show with a stereo feed ). Person directing IATSE local 29 stagehands sounds like Robbie the Varilite operator.

Cassette in lineage. No doubt. Not pure digital. But a great Brent show anyway. Not a single source of this I have heard (heard 'em all, was there, blah, blah...) is pure digital other than the DVD extracted first four songs of set II (VFV II filler) but that is off limits for trading.

The female voice you hear is candace brightman at the lighting board talking about the cover they were putting over the lighting/FOH area. The reason you hear her is because this is a SBD Matrix mixed with mics which were placed at the sbd (FOH). And yes, there is a cassette gen in this.
