Sounds like a bad EAC... numerous clicks and noises throughout Dark Star

Any1 know if the flaws in dark star are on the other circulating version:[Dat>CDR>CDR>EAC>WAV>SHN] and/or the Master Dat from this version?
Date: 05/13/2004
The flaws are not due to a bad EAC. They appear like pseudo-analog sample and hold problems, perhaps due to clock sync issues either during recording or DAT transfer. I have noted the following flaws in Dark Star (d1t01): dropouts or pops at 13:57, 15:21, 18:38, 18:47.5, 19:24, & 21:07 and slight "static crackle" from 18:59-19:01.

There is also a 64 sample dropout at 0.024 of Crazy Fingers (d1t03), after which there is a faint 11.5 kHz high pitched tone beginning at 0.025 of d1t03 through the end of the show; the tone is not present on the 1st 2 tracks.

The whole show appears to have been through analog compression (i.e., limiting, not data compression like mp3); then the maximum signal level is -6.5 dB. It's a great show; it sure would be nice to find a clean DAT master.
