Set:
Masters of War
Notes:
Pearl Jam makes their 5th appearance on the Late Show, to promote the the "Songs
And Artists That Inspired Fahrenheit 9/11" soundtrack, as well as the Vote For
Change Tour.
This is sourced from a direct transport stream recording of a digital broadcast,
this is not a "capture".
Technical Notes:
The Late Show is not recorded in High Definition, but is broadcast digitally on
HDTV. The audio stream for the Late Show is a 384kbit stereo AC3 stream. While
AC3 is a "lossy" compression, the loss is minimal due to the high bitrate of the
stream (frequencies up to 20KHz are present), and the fact that it's a digital
copy as broadcast by CBS.
Recordings from analog tv/analog cable would introduce line noise, interference,
and depend on the quality of the A/D converters.
Recordings from digital cable would be even worse because in addition to heavier
compression, the quality of the recording still depends on your equipment.
The video of this performance will be bonus material on an upcoming fanmade DVD.
