The d1,d2,d3 md5s shown are the originals from the tree, and have been etreed through the stonebear ftp site.
The alt md5s differ in d2 and have been etreed through stellablue. The differing d2 may be due to
some trouble in one
of the tree branches; during the fix there was a shn>wav>reshn step. We are
not sure whether the alt checksums here stem from that or not.

If everything is fine there should be *no skips* in d2t4 (OMSN) for either copy
listed here. Please post a comment here if you find otherwise.
Thanks to Frank Bove of stonebear for the background!

I just d/l'ed this show. Listener Beware! The version I got has all the track boundaries 2 seconds too early with
respect to the inter-song fades down/up. Whoever digitized and edited this show did a nice job editing out
the intra-song tunings (smooth fades down and then back up between tunes) but I found each track has 2 seconds
of the fade-down from the previous track. Oops. But there is something FAR worse wrong with this version:
Whoever did the digitizing recorded the signal WAY too hot. Once I brought Disk 1's .WAVs into Samplitude,
I could see that each track has thousands (no exaggeration!) of clippings - the tops of each signal peak cut
off flat right at 0 dB, because the signal was too hot into the A/D converter. I used Samplitude's DeClipper and
it restored THOUSANDS of peaks per track (between 1 and >4 thousand per track). Of course Samp also
lowered the volume of everything so that the highest restored peak remains at 0 dB.
What a huge shame that such a horrible mistake was made on this great show.

BTW, the MD5 I have for Disk 1 is the same as the one on this site.

Out of curiosity, how do you know?
Well I didn't personally tape it...
So let me rephrase that- this sounds nothing like a SBD and everything like an AUD and I just thought someone should mention it seeing as there was no previous note of it in the txt. file or this SHN Link.

It is an FM bcast with a more room-y mix than the two-tracks we are used to from that era. As with some other bcasts I've heard, they bring up the room mics especially high at the beginnings and endings of songs. A low-gen version (such as the one available on GDLive) sounds fine, in any case. Some distortion at the beginning.

Since this is a MR > DAT source, I guess this is probably as good as it will ever get in regards to the clipping? Great show, but that clipping is the worst!

This source is worth getting just for Muddy Water. And, for whatever reason, the scratchy, overdriven ambience of the recording plays right into the performance of that song. I don't know what hat Jerry pulled that one out of, but it is, IMHO, a magic moment. It sounds like something from the Folkways label...
