JR Fishmans notes:
Last fall I noticed a copy going around on etree that was
inferior to the copy that Dougal generously gave me.  The etree copy
had a thin, compressed FM sound to it.

I had a DAT of 6/9/77 for several years from a close friend and transferred this to CD.
This copy, though not pristine, is a substantial upgrade.  It is from
a 1st gen reel, was transferred to PCM and then to DAT.  I
transferred the DAT to CD using an Fostex D10 professional DAT recorder to an
hhb 800 professional stand-alone player.  I did not do any editting (i.e. Cool Edit)

This copy has warmer and fuller  1977-esque sound than the etree version .
The quiter songs sound lovely !!!!

Buyer beware - there are some nicks and bruises on this recording -
- digital noise during Weir's "Just exactly right" schtick (pre Miss
1/2 step
-  some reel degradation during Mississippi (but still listenable)
-  minor digital noise @ the end of Deal
- some reel degradation in Jack Straw (I only heard a second or two)
-  Overmodulation and distortion for the 1st 5 seconds of Estimated

Disc 1: 'Sunrise' is listed as track 5, but is not included
in the shn files
Date: 06/08/2001
Sunrise was removed from the DAT>CD transfer due to dozens of digital errors on the DAT master.

Also for anybody's interest, transfer was done using EAC 0.9 and MKWACT.

Thanks guys, I've now modified the info here slightly.

The "Comments" section states the lineage as SBD>REEL>PCM>Etc. The text section gives REEL SBD>PCM>Etc. Anyone able to clarify the exact, correct lineage? Thx!
Date: 07/01/2001
As the info file states in the notes section: its from a 1st gen reel. Also, there is DAE in the lineage, but there
are no details about this. Based on all the info provided, It appears the lineage is: SBD>Reel/1>PCM>DAT>CD>SHN

Not to sound snotty, but is there a reason that the Sunrise wasn't replaced with the Sunrise from the older Etree version? It's kind of disappointing that it's just left out. If someone has both versions of this show, I'll patch this version with the sub-par version's Sunrise. I just think that folks might want to have the best, most complete copy of this show all in one place.
BTW, this copy Does sound wonderful!
