Has this source been mislabeled? Or possibly have an MP3 source somewhere in there? There are mini-gaps at the end of each track. In addition to that, the quality is subpar at best. Very distorted at times, often too loud (which causes more distortion).

The minigaps mentioned may be SBEs - CoolEdit does not cut tracks correctly. As for lineage, I doubt this had an MP3 generation, the D5 is a DAT machine. This is more than likely a "lost lineage" DAT clone.
