AndrewF posted the following analysis of the "hoax" 10/6/77 tapes:
"I decided to sit down and decode the "hoax" source and figure out what's what in that file-set. The results are below, and I'm positive are entirely correct. This is true for all three (and counting) ID's for this: 5804, 19138, and the recent 101801. Let's hope people stop adding this bogus pastiche hack job to the database...

Warning: This and 19138 are not really 10-6-77. The two sources are made up of the KBFH material from 10-6 plus other songs patched in from other shows on the October 1977 tour. The tape is a hoax.

This accusation is based on what? This set list matches the setlist in my DB8.

What I am wondering is...what is the difference between this and 19138 aside from the odd choice of tracking drums 3 times, and splitting it between disks? Aside from that they sound exactly alike to my ears. If that is true then one of these lineages is incorrect.

Anyway...where does the, "this isn't 10-6" claim come from? Illumination would be kindly appreciated.

Listen to the show and you can hear all of the source changes, plus if you compare them to the other shows, the tracks are the same. This is NOT 10/6/77, except for a few songs from set 2 that were broadcast on the king biscuit flower hour.

Listen to Not Fade Away on this and on the KBFH source......they are completely different, Jerry does this jazz-like jam before the tape flip. Missing on the "sdb" sources.
