There is major distortion and the levels change and pan from left to right at the end of GDTRFB and all through Sat. Night. Is this on everyone else's copies? This is such a great show and it's such an incredible GDTRFB to have such horrible distortion right through the climax of the song. Can anyone patch it?

the problems noted above seem to be on all circulating copies

Estimated can be placed onto disc 3, as it segues into O1, though the shns need to be edited for the wavs to match up seamlessly. However, there is apparently a splice on d3t01 in the Drums just before the intro to O1. Also, there is a dropout in Fire @ 1:36, followed by two discontinuites @ 6:39 & 6:48. There are two dropouts/pops in O1 @ 10:20 & 11:12. Deadlists confirms that the level problems are on all the FM recordings of this show as well. This is still a very fine recording to have from May '77.

I remember when I taped this from the radio in 1977 that the sound did go very bad near the end of GDTRFB. It was clearly the radio signal.

This is one of my favorite all time shows. I also originally recorded it from WXRT radio in Chicago. The story (rumor)at the time about the dropout was that someone from the radio station spilled coffee on their local mixing console at the concert. A little while after the dropout occurs, the gain is jacked up and it really gets distorted. In my mind, I've always felt that one of the best Goin' Down the Roads was lost forever.
