Edits (to both HTHS and HBR sets):
Because the original discs were tracked on the fly (as recorded), the
track breaks came immediately after the music in each song ended. That left a good
amount of audience noise and chatter at the beginning of each new track. Also,
the original tracking left a 0.6 second gap in the sound at each break. Because of
the 80 min. limits of CD media, tape (or, more accurately, disc) flips caused
losses of about 1 minute in the middle of both Sweet Honey Fountain and Norweigian
Wood. Finally, the very end of Sucker for Pigtails got truncated somehow. I fixed
these problems, as described below.
In order to re-track, I (1) ripped the originals as one waveform per
disc using EAC (no errors); (2) deleted the split-second gaps caused by the original
tracking and deleted about a dozen small clicks/pops using Cool Edit 2000; and (3)
re-tracked using cdwav.
Once properly tracked, I addressed the tape-flips. Using Cool Edit
2000, I spliced into Sweet Honey Fountain 49 seconds of 2.12.05's version (at 0:14
to 1:03 in this recording). Next, I found a natural spot in Norweigan Wood to
combine the two fragments (at 6:13 in this recording). Unfortunately, because of
the flip in the originals, there is still about 1 minute of music missing. I
adjusted volume levels around these edit points and cross-faded as necessary. The
results are nearly transparent.
The volume in the original recording rose dramatically 57 seconds into
Good Times Around The Bend. I fixed that by increasing the levels prior to it by
340%. Finally, I fixed the truncated Sucker For Pigtails by splicing in the
final few seconds from the 5.12.05 version.
The final two unplugged songs from the weekend did not make it onto
this soundboard recording.
Notes:
- There is some diginoise and a few small clicks throughout the
recording.
- To combine into a complete 4-disc show, also download the Hot Buttered Rum set
from http://www.archive.org/audio/ The first disc should be set one (HTHS) set;
the second disc should be all but the last three tracks of set two (HBRSB); the
third disc should be the remaining three tracks of set two, followed by the first
six tracks of set three (HTHS+HBRSB); and the fourth disc should be the remaining
tracks of set three.
