The Hermosa Saloon was Vida's unofficial clubhouse. Within walking distance of 'Billy's Room' we would play there at least once a month to work out new material in front of supportive fans. George was unable to make this date, and since we were only 2 weeks away from our CD sessions, Dez, Bill and I decided to the gig anyway. We asked our old pal Rob Holzman (the original drummer for Saccharine Trust, and Vida's second drummer) if he would like to the gig with us. He agreed under the condition that we perform NO Vida material. We agreed, practiced a bunch of cover songs none of us seemed to know all the words to, and went for it. The band name 'The Holz' (as in Holzman) first appeared in 1984 when Dez, Rob and I would jam into the night at Black Flag's old rehearsal space and offices. That's why the announcement is made that "we've been together for 11 years, but this is our first live gig."
I Don't Give A Fuck was a jam Dez and I rewrote into an actual song for this occassion, and wound up adding to the Vida set list.
This is not intended to be thought of anything but the crazed hoot that it actually was. If you're looking for well played, professionally arranged and rehearsed material, this tape is NOT for you.
