Dan Healy made a series of 2 track DAT tapes for Phil Lesh,
that Dick Latvala asbsconded with or appropriated, or just plain took.
He sent Cassettes (as was his way to ensure that the vault retained best copy) to Jim Wise (Aoxoa),
who using his Nak deck and with the assistance of Rob Eaton (King Bee),
turned back into Digital copies. Jim made me one of the lucky recipients of some of these shows.

not sure if it's on all copies, but the shn set i had and confirmed with another guy, was missing the first few 30-ish seconds of promised land - must've been a tape flip.

I can confirm that.
The first few notes of Promised (Bobby's strumming "intro" if you will) is at the end of the Bird Song track. There's a 'snit' where it sounds like there may be a redundant note or two, a few notes of Jerry's intro...and then the Promised track starts at "stopped in Charlotte"
Text should read:
Bird Song >
//Promised Land
Pretty solid show and a nice sounding source.

That’s a nice story about how the tapes came to be but it is extremely inaccurate
