Noted the opening of Set II is actuall a tune, and not an Improv. I have called it "Dysfunctional Ash Groove" to reflect the groove's nature and also to tie it to this, its first known performance.

It was also played on 4/17/1997 d1t06.

I've now noted d1t01 as "Down On Me '97 Improv". This the earliest noted performance of the Down On Me melody (i.e. I haven't found it anywhere else but that doesn't mean they didn't play it before this time).

Earlier this year I discovered that in 2000 the guys played a kind o Down On Me/Tsukemono medley a handful of times over the course of the year.

But in 2003 the melody takes on its own shape and becomes a tune more to itself, and that's what we mostly know as Down On Me -- and it's awesome!
