PERSONAL NOTE:
It was so great to spend three nights in a row with these guys for my first-ever shows, and this was the night my dear friend Mark Burnell forsook his spot on the rail to spend the show up on the edge of the balcony with me as I monitored my recording.  The sing-alongs, the energy from the crowd, the Antibalas horns, the new tunes, and that damned duck-call are all etched permanently in my mind.  There is no other band that has moved me in a short 18-month period to (a) buy their entire catalog, (b) travel from Montana to NYC for my first shows, and (c) haul my gear along to make sure it got recorded, but Gomez are the ones who accomplished that.  Thanks to Mark & Kim for their hospitality, to Kyle for letting me use his Sponge Bob bed, to the new friends made over pints in the bar, and to Blackie, Tom, & Ben for very gracious greets after the show.

Mez-merized & grateful,
+ Pastor Tim
