Notes on Garaj Mahal dates recorded 2/16/02 & 2/17/02

The 2/16/02 show was played at the Sierra Vista Restaurant's down-
stairs seating area. One end of the large room had been equipped with
a stage of decent size, maybe 20-25 feet by 15 feet or so. A column,
one of many, ran up to the ceiling at the front center of the stage.
Mics were placed as follows:
Crown SASS PZM at the center front of the stage, actually slightly
to the left due to the column's interference.
Radio Shack Optimus condenser mics at each PA, which was stereo and
each cabinet about 10 feet from the floor. Mics were on stands right
at the point where mids & highs separated from the lows, about 6 inches
away.
Mixed via a Radio Shack 4 into 2 stereo mic mixer.
Taped on a Tascam DA-P1
Transferred via Turtle Beach Montego II Plus>SoundForge>CDWave>MKW/aud.
A band opened, played over 1 hr. and left GM with not quite 1 1/2 hrs.
to play. Farid got annoyed with his guitar and threw it to the floor
somewhere in the middle of Never Give Up.

The 2/17/02 show was played at the Bar 1 in Squaw Valley, right at the
base of the lower tier of lifts. Another restaurant/bar venue with
room for several hundred (appr.). A much smaller stage, a quality
sound system and a wooden dance floor surrounded by tables & stools or chairs.
Mics were placed in a similar fashion as the night before, except that
the house was 2 stacks of 4 or 5 speakers on the floor at each side of
the stage and the Crown mic went up on the stage about 2to 3 feet from Alan's drum kit. Farid to the left and Kai to the right about twice as far, and Eric sort of farther off to the right, past Kai. Check out that Crown. Elevation on the stage: about 2 1/2 feet.
