9. In the Midnight Hour
Notes: This second night at the Coliseum was decidedly better than the first show. The first was kind of a "second serve", where everybody just seemed to be glad to be back on stage and were getting the basics back in place. On the 16th, they seemed to say, "What the hell, let's go for broke; if we fuck up, we fuck up, but everyone will have a good time." They did, in several obvious places, but there was a whole lot more energy. The 15th was about telling everyone they were back, the 16th was saying they were back to stay.
Two things stand out in particular. Box of Rain had more harmonies on it than any time since the seventies, almost like the album. Also, the shortest space on record (listed on Deadlists at 36 seconds), so there's no huge loss there. Finally, although Deadlists has Box segueing into Crazy Fingers, I think there's a distinct silence on stage between the songs, so I figured it was a good place to end Disc 1.

I've updated the txt file to include Jack Straw, which was missing from the original nfo. Sugaree>Jack Straw is on track 8.

This source is crud. I downloaded this in .mp3 format back in 1999 or 2000, joined the .mp3s together, played them out of my crappy headphone jack to cassette, from cassette BACK through the same lousy internal soundcard to .wav. I can only plead ignorance and inexperience in uploading this source - I didn't even have a CD burner back then. Please do not download or spread this. Thank you.
