Subject: 9/11/99 alternate tracking

The version of 9/11 that's going around on the e-tree has the first set
split over two discs, with the first disc ending with Heavy Things, about
48 minutes into the set.  This first set will really fit onto one disc
without any problems.

Unfortunately, there's some crowd noise missing between discs, so you
can't just splice them together.  But you can crossfade between them and
get a decent-sounding transition -- it's just crowd noise anyway, so it's
not a big deal.

That throws off the second set splits a bit, though.  You need to
crossfade between Sand and Meatstick, since there's crowd noise missing
there as well.

Then you need to find a spot to cut the second set...  You can cut between
Maze and Prince Caspian, since they stop playing between them, but that
leaves the second disc only 58 minutes long.  Or you can cut between
Caspian and Hood, which makes it 69 minutes, but it's an uglier cut since
Hood starts up out of a sustained note out of Caspian.

Personally, I cut between Caspian and Hood (with plenty of overlap for
future changes of heart.)  YMMV.

Anyways, just thought I'd throw that out as an alternate tracking.  This
way keeps the first set on one disc, and gives you 2 69 minute discs plus
23 minutes for disc 3 that I'll use as filler somewhere else.

Why can't everyone just upload discs the way I'd do them?? :)

Hersch
