This was my first Bob Dylan show. Dylan played with Tom Petty that summer, alternating sets. We were on the floor (in the rodeo dirt), on the left side of the stage about 20 rows back. I wish I would have recorded it but at the time the only portable deck that I had was my Sony TC-153SD which I thought was a little large to sneak into the fairgrounds in August! The crowds at the Mid State Fair shows are always horrible. I've recorded there a bunch of times over the years and this time was no exception. I'm sure the recordings that were made that day suffer from a lot of crowd noise. This was also the first time that I'd seen Tom Petty. I remember that I liked Petty's set better but it was nice to finally see Dylan. The man is a legend!
