This was my first show. I had heard of them from acquaintances from CO, went and scored tickets at the college bookstore ($6!). The day of the show, I received a call from my brother who lived in Eugene, telling me that he had been shut out the night before at the WOW hall show down there, and that it was something big...
The show took place in the library lobby which was a medium-sized, square room with a staircase ascending from the center to a second floor that was open in the center with a view down to the main floor, so that you could walk up and around to the back and look down on the top of the band who had set up facing the stairs. Maybe 500 people were there, many of whom were hearing them for the first time.
It was a life changer.
