Friday the 13th. My first Phish show. Came face to face with Mike while walking by the will call area.
Hayden Square Ampitheater isn't really a venue. It is on Mill Avenue in Tempe set off the street. This "venue" is between two bars, Gibsons and (can remember) and is created when they bring out some chain link fences to block it off. Had to be 500 people max! Not a very large place to see a show.
I remember Runaway Jim as the opener was good. I was not very familiar with Phish at this point, being my first show and all. If you listen on to the tapes on Stash nobody does the clapping the first time around.
A fine way to be introduced to Phish and Arizona.
