Class of late 70's L.A. punk bands doin' a benefit for Flipside zine. My punk rock friend and I just drove up expecting to get tickets, like morons. Of course, it was totally sold out. However, he was very resourceful and purchased 2 tickets at face value, just $15 as I recall, totally punk rock man, from one of the security guards as they'd each gotten a pair apparently. FEAR was maybe the sharpest band that evening and there was a great list of old bands there. My guess is since they never broke up though they've had massive personnel changes and Lee Ving was undoubtedly the only original member in the band, tho, clearly, the most important given his voice and presence, the band rocked hard. It was almost 3 months after 9/11 and they opened with their U.S.A. chant and sang that between each of their songs during their set. It was very stirring. It was quite a stance to take at the time. There were no protests when they did, as I recall. They rocked that night.
