Amazing early Zep show! Opening acts were Lee Michaels, the MC5, and Grand Funk Railroad. GFR played too long (apparently), and were told to end their performance when a guy came out on the stage & told GFR frontman Mark Farner to wrap it up, per Zep's management (as the story goes). The GFR performance came to an abrupt halt, and Zep came out a short time later and made everyone forget about the opening acts!

Disc circulating and purporting to be this show is NOT a recording from this concert, it's a collection of BBC recordings from 1969. A quick listen makes it obvious when comparing sound & ambience with official BBC release. Besides, the Detroit audience were practically riotous compared to the polite response on the circulating disc said to be this show.

Comment

As of April 2006, there are no known recordings of this performance. Recordings purporting to be from this night probably are not. Whole Lotta Love was not played.

Set 1 is what is on circulating disc (which are actually BBC recordings); Set 2 is the actual setlist written down the night of the concert by attendee Randy Foley. C'mon Everybody/Something Else was the encore.
