A fabulous night, but a lackluster venue. Not that there's anything wrong with Fiddler's per se (the early curfew isn't great), but when there's a place as epic as Red Rocks in the same city it pales in comparison.
The main set was solid but unspectacular, highlights were the Long Road opener, Ed's frequent comments to the crowd about being a mile high and changing the stelist. Pilate, MFC, and I Got Shit were also very strong.
Alive was very moving, dedicated to "the good fathers out there" just a few days after Father's Day. Black was great as always.
The second encore made the night. Some fans in our row had brought a HUGE cardboard sign reading "Patriot Please" that we helped them hold up at both encore breaks. Ed came out alone and paraphrased the Rolling Stones, "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you just might find a sympathetic rock singer who gives a fuck ..." And then a fabulous, solo Patriot to cap a great night in Denver.
