Getting Started
Welcome to db.etree!
You can browse the resources here without an account. But, to make your own list, you'll need to sign up. Here's how.
To get started, create a user account by clicking on the [join db.etree] link on the main page. The user id you choose will be the address to your list: http://db.etree.org/youruserid. The "Name" field doesn't have to be your real name, but whatever you use will show up on your list. For example, if you type "DudeSucker?" then you'll wind up owning "DudeSucker?'s list". So, if you want people to call you "Mike" or "Sarah" or something, use your real name, or something else that doesn't sound silly.
You must enter a valid e-mail address, and maintain it so long as you keep your list on the site. Don't worry, no one else will see this e-mail address. But, if you leave it blank, you'll have trouble getting help if you forget your password, and you may find your account deactivated.
You will then be asked to log in, and UpdateYourUserInformation. That's where you can put a different e-mail address that people will see when they view your list. You can use an obfuscated email address that won't be easy for spambots to read, for example, by substituting @ with "AT", . with "DOT" and so on. If you make it too weird, people won't be able to figure it out, so keep it simple! You'll also want to register your email address, in case you forget your password, so you can have it emailed to you. Otherwise, you'll have to track down the site admins and beg us for help.
Once you've registered your email, you're ready to start building your list! You can start to AddShows to your list, or change the way it looks by learning AllAboutSkins. If you want to add a show to your list that isn't in the database, you can AddNewShows (but make sure you follow the BasicRules).
Just about everything else you need to know can be found on the [help pages], but if you can't find the answer to something, feel free to ask on the [forums].
Welcome aboard!
