Notes: My copy doesn't have Atom Heart Mother, but the MC announces the band before Green Is The Colour, and that seems to be the start of the show, so I don't know what the deal is here. All songs on one long track. There is a fade-out then in during the middle section of Echoes, which seems to be from a side change on the source. A definate analog presence, but this still sounds great. There is about thirty seconds of the show marred with a bit of crackling, but it clears up quickly. Despite the issues, the performance itself is fantastic, and this is still well worth hearing. Nice.

Notes: Lineage: Sony HF-370 1st Gen RtR > AKAI GX-635D > PC > CMC Magnetics CD-R > EAC V1.0 beta 3 > Adobe Audition 3.0 (restore to mono) > Trader's Little Helper > Flac Tape Info: Sony HF-370 7.5 ips (19.05 cm/s) 1st Generation Reel-to-reel Duophonic Stereo Recorded by T. Kuroshima In 2015, an astonishing source has been discovered: A new recording of the first day of Hakone Aphrodite. Since there are already other three sources available, I name this "Recorder 4." It should be noted that unlike the other sources, "Echoes" is totally uncut and includes Roger's words "This is the new piece, it's called Echoes" at the beginning. Also, "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun" is included for the first time ever. The source, originally recorded in mono, was cut down to 60 minutes during the duplication and given to the original taper's cousin. Unfortunately, the edited copy was improperly mixed into fake stereo (Time delay one channel slightly), which caused the jumpiness in the audio. Though "Recorder 4" has already been released by a bootlegger under the title of "HAKONE APHRODITE 1971: MASTER RECORDING (Sigma 138)," here I release it again with my best restoration of the above problem. My remaster uses the same digital copy as that of the bootleg. The box of the tape says "August 7th, 1971," but this date must be wrong because the taper of Recorder 3 including the same performance said he had attended only the first day of Hakone Aphrodite. In addition, according to the cousin of the taper of Recorder 4, he attended just one day, which means that "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun" in this source is from the first day.

Notes: This was the very first Pink Floyd concert in Japan. Echoes consists of two fragments only. The running order of the songs also seems to be incorrect. A more complete tape of this show exists, but is not circulated. Regarding the great sound quality, I'd still recommend this one to all those who love the early Floyd stuff. Here is some more information about the festival and the 'Great Lost Aphrodite Tape': http://homepage3.nifty.com/pink_floyd/hakone/losttape.htm http://homepage3.nifty.com/pink_floyd/home8.htm

Notes: All Together Now (Empress Valley EVSD-1423,1424) Lineage: Silver 2CD > EAC > TLH > FLAC - converts to 2 audio discs (TRT 1:26:37) At the end of December 2020, the shocking new audience source of Hakone Aphrodite was released by Empress Valley. It is a great discovery that will overturn the date of conventional tapes. In this recorder, Goro Itoi announces in Japanese after the show: "The first day of Hakone Aphrodite, the first day of today, has ended successfully thanks to you. Thank you very much." This means that this is the true source of the first day. In Set The Controls For The Heart Of Sun, you can hear a rare performance of that playing The Embryo sound effects. Please enjoy the new cassette master source that has been discovered after 49 years.
