Notes: Great DVD documentary that was deleted many years ago, is OOP, and is now fairly difficult to get a hold of. It follows Andy, Sting and Stewart on their world tour between 1980-81. There are some great behind the scenes footage and fantastic live performances. Pro-shot with Menu, Chapter Marks, etc. Before they'd become one of the 80's biggest success stories with such chart-topping albums as "Ghost In the Machine" and "Synchronicity", The Police toured continuously and extensively. In 1980-81, the trio performed India and Egypt (one of the first bands to play there), plus Japan, Australia, Latin America, and the U.S.A., which is captured on the 1983 homevideo "Around the World". The 77-minute video is a candid glimpse of The Police on tour - featuring potent renditions of the early favorites "De Do Do Do," "Don't Stand So Close to Me," "When the World is Running Down," "Truth Hits Everybody," "Next To You," "Roxanne," and "Shadows in the Rain," amongst others. Featured throughout are amusing (and sometimes corny!) skits (such as pint-sized guitarist Andy Summers attempting to wrestle an enormous Sumo Wrestler in Japan), and behind-the-scenes going's on. Besides the music, there's plenty of sightseeing and samples of exotic lands - highly recommended. Even though the Australian leg is only briefly featured, the sight of The Police in a red 1980 VC Holden Commodore made me smile (mine was silver with a red pin-stripe!). The interview with the school kids is also quite amusing...well, I reckon it is anyway, mate! Enjoy! Thanks so much for this beast Mike! I have this in both NTSC and PAL DVD formats.
