| Notes: | (PRO) Grant Hart looks super creepy here. The fact that he is a total mouth breather here doesn't help. In addition, Greg Norton does not yet have his trademark moustache (which is quite shocking as well), and Bob Mould makes some of the weirdest facial expressions I have ever seen. As for the musical performance, the band totally rocks. They play almost all the songs from Land Speed Record in a similar order, as well as some tracks that didn't surface in the studio until up to two years later, and some that I don't think I've heard in any other form. It's quite long for an early Hüsker show (about 60 minutes) and extremely energetic. They even do what is probably the first blast beat ever at the end of Tired of Doing Things. There are a couple drop-outs in the video where it goes all blurry and gross for a few seconds (and the audio does that "bwaaawawawa" thing that old VHS tapes tend to do when this happens), but it's still pretty nice. The audio is better than LSR, a solid A-. I guess Twin/Tone has the masters from this still and might release it someday. | |||||

| Notes: | Hüsker Dü 01 or 05 Sep 1981 7th St. Entry Minneapoils, MN Twin/Tone multi-band sessions Notes: Artist: Hüsker Dü Format: Pro-shot tape Medium: VHS cassette Date Recorded: 01 or 05 Sep 1981 Location: 7th st Entry, MN Recording Quality: B+/C (serious tracking problems during "Free Land," "Wheels" and half of "Call On Me" at beginning of the second set.) Time: 60 min Multi-camera concert video shot with eventual public release apparently in mind. Part of five successive nights of shooting. Other bands (e.g., Replacements) were videotaped during these sessions as well. The tapes are rumored to reside in the Twin/Tone vaults. Bob Mould comments: "The recordings from 1981 were to be released as a multi-lp/video package tentatively entitled 'Soundcheck.' Twin/Tone probably has the tapes somewhere; I would suspect it's their final 'ace-in-the-hole', for when they next run out of money, or need another M&D deal. Everyone from that period (Mats, Loud Fast Rules, Hüsker, etc.) were part of it, so it'll be a big item at some point." The provenance of this particular copy is a mystery. Long uncirculated, this recording leaked out in the early 90s and is now fairly common.
