Notes: Continuing my theme of Yes history, we have here 2 versions of the same show at which Yes premiered Close To the Edge. They had previously played And You & I and Siberian Khatru on the first US leg of the tour and now they were kicking off a 2-week mini tour of the UK at the Crystal Palace Garden Party. This show was marred by power problems and PA problems, not to mention the BBC broadcast of the Munich Games coming through the PA as well. Also, Wakeman seemed to have keyboard tuning problems. Close To The Edge was very rough as you'll hear, but it does make for interesting listening. As a piece of trivia, at the end of Close To The Edge the band usually adds 2 extra chords to bring the key down so Jon can sing the end without a lot of effort (before 'On the hill we viewed the silence of the valley...'). In this version they had not yet decided to do that. As you'll hear, I bet the decision was made pretty quick after this performance. :) I had, for a long time, a version of this show on tape that was almost unlistenable due to interference. This is included in this torrent as Version 2. The sample is pretty respresentative of a better moment. Discs 1 and 2 are 'remastered' from a source I got from Jonathan Babcock. Not only was the sound much better, but it is a near complete show while my tape version was not. As a side note, Forgotten Yesterdays lists that Yours Is No Disgrace was not played. It was and is inlcuded here. lineage of both versions is unknown, but the 2-disc set is low-gen as is evident by the pitch being perfect. version 1: CD > PC > SoundForge > CD > FLAC > you version 2: tape > PC > SoundForge > CD > FLAC > you
