Notes: Genesis: The Lostbrook Tape Series Volume 124 I was sitting in the second row directly in front of Steve Hackett, pleased that I didn't know anyone around me. This had been the case the previous night, and that tape benefited greatly from the situation. Moments before the show began, my friend Scott appeared in the aisle and made a difficult request of me. He asked me to trade seats with his friend, a guitarist who wanted to study Steve Hackett's technique. I wanted to observe Hackett closely myself, so I protested. I also didn't want to move since my recorder and camera were concealed and ready for action. Then Scott played his ace - "I'm the one who got you this ticket," he reminded me. This wasn't entirely true (see Vol 3 story) but I didn't want to prolong the argument with the clock ticking. As I gathered my gear, Scott consoled me and said, "Come on, you're sitting with me and Brad in the second row in front of Phil. We'll have a great time." That we did, but I went from a quiet taping situation to one marred by singing, clapping, and other over-enthusiastic nonsense. There are other problems with this tape: a small section of "Supper's Ready" was eaten by my deck and was so garbled that CQ needed to patch it with my April 8 tape. There's still some brief garbling and a small section missing from "Los Endos," but we left it as is for now. There are a few other cuts between songs since I edited some of the moments that make me cringe. There's a tape change near the end of "Supper's Ready," and the second tape, the Scotch Highlander, is a real piece of garbage. There's also a slight chance I might have copied this tape for a friend a long time ago, so I can't say for sure if it's uncirculated. For all these reasons, my original intent was to leave this recording unreleased. I eventually decided that the performance is simply too outstanding to be consigned to rot on my shelf.
