| Notes: | The live BBC Three broadcast was very different (in terms of video editing - camera angles etc), to such an extent that it was was rare for the same shots to be shown in both versions. There was a significant amount of programming on BBC HD from this event and this may be related to the different versions available. The BBC Three live broadcast comprised a brief interview (recorded in New York "last week") followed by Jo Whiley's introduction to the TV cameras, followed by Madonna's performance. The BBC 1 programme broadcast 3 days later opened with a montage of audience members and some performers, then similar interview footage, followed by all of the songs performed by Madonna, in their performance sequence, but with several interuptions of additional interview segments. This composite version uses the complete audio from the BBC 3 live broadcast, together with the BBC 1 performance footage and the interview material rearranged and preceding the performance. Brief segments that were omitted in the BBC 1 editing have been replaced with the BBC 3 footage, which carries an ugly, bright logo. Therefore these segments are easily identified. A portion of the interview was included in the BBC 3 version, but not BBC 1. This segment is also included in this composite version. To summarise: + The interview material includes ALL content shown during both programmes, with no duplication + The performance material includes the entire audio from the BBC 3 live broadcast, with as much of the logo-free BBC 1 broadcast as possible. Only brief excerpts from the BBC 3 footage were required; the joins are seamless and the performance is as complete as it can be. + The BBC 3 audio expired a few seconds before the BBC 1 broadcast. The BBC 1 audio had a voice-over announcing forthcoming programmes. I used a short segment of crowd noise in place of the voice-over. + The basic BBC 3 and BBC 1 video brodcasts are VERY DIFFERENT. This version uses the "best" video available (higer bitrate, no logo) with the most complete audio, and fills the gaps as necessary. + Therefore, for the completists, there may be a desire to investigate and compare the original BBC 3 live broadcast, not to mention the possibility of HD material. 1.
