The appeal stems mainly from the fact that this was one of the first Boot CDs to hit the market. It was recorded from a very clean sounding vinyl LP called 'Newport'65'. The package and overall aesthetics are a joke, although the original drawing of Dylan on the front is very good. It's taken from a 1974 black and white photo by Fred McDarrah. Everything is direct from the soundboard, and considering the dates, amazing quality. The songs are listed out of order on the package. The true play order is shown above. There is also no mention on the package to the fact that a third of the famous 1964 'Halloween' show is included as filler. It was recorded from side three of a very clean copy of the LP 'All Hallows Eve And More'. The first of that show appeared several weeks earlier as 'Live in New York 1964'.

Notes: FESTIVAL! DVD - 1967 documentary of 1963-1966 Newport Folk Festivals; filmed, directed, and produced by Murray Lerner. - NTSC, resolution 720x480, 95 minutes - This version is brand new ("hot off the presses"), authored with menu and chapters Many of us have heard about, or maybe even seen, Festival! So far, however, the film has only been available via very rare public viewings. [It is not commercially available anywhere in any form]. This priceless "period piece" documents the early-mid 1960s cultural movement, as reflected in the music performed during three years of the Newport Folk Festival, and includes concert footage of and interviews with these artists among others: Joan Baez, Theodore Bikel, Mike Bloomfield, Paul Butterfield, The Butterfield Blues Band, Johnny Cash, Judy Collins, Donovan, Bob Dylan, Richard and Mimi Fari?a, Freedom Singers, Ronnie Gilbert, Son House, Mississippi John Hurt, Jim Kweskin and the Jug Band, Mel Lyman, Brownie McGee and Sonny Terry, Odetta, Peter Paul and Mary, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Pete Seeger, and the Staple Singers. Some info from Alan Fraser's "Searching for a Gem" site -- Dylan content includes the following: R-0041 All I Really Want To Do - recorded live at the Newport Folk Festival, Newport, RI, 26 Jul 1964 (part of the performance on 24 Jul 1965 is also shown) R-0300 Maggie's Farm - recorded live with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band at the Newport Folk Festival, Newport, RI, 25 Jul 1965 R-0304 Mr. Tambourine Man - recorded live (solo acoustic) at the Newport Folk Festival, Newport, RI, 25 Jul 1965 The film also has fragments from the band soundcheck: organ riffs, Maggie's Farm and Like A Rolling Sto

Daniel (4/0) / View   Source: "Folk Rogue" Silver > EAC > FLAC LEVEL 5 Patch Source: Bob Dylan "1965 Revisited"...
Notes: Originally planned on sharing this show from the Italian "Bob Dylan 1965 Revisited" box set. Then "Folk Rogue" was posted and the 3 stereo tracks from this silver disc were a great improvement over that older tape copy. There was a very noticable speed variation between these two sources and that required investigation. This was put to the side until the correct speed could be determined. The silver CD included material from 2 different years at Newport and a few other concerts as filler. But this project was to be the 1965 performance. Tracks were reassembled from the "Folk Rogue" source and were running fast with plenty of clicks and pops. Using the time stretch function in Adobe Audition 3.0 this was Slowed down by 1.5% (98.5) and now lines up with a reliable video of the performance. Volumes were adjusted to blend the 2 sources better while many clicks and pops were repaired on the 3 stereo tracks. The LP source was missing the introduction, the encores and some tuning found on the tape recording. Introduction and encores were taken from the mono tape to complete the "Folk Rogue" CD. Most of the between song tuning was not patched in from the mono tape as it created abrupt changes and spoiled the flow. Three seconds of pre-song guitar strumming was inserted in front of "Maggies Farm" and that was taken from the 1965 Revisited box set. So here is something started in April of last year and finally completed. Support Bob and purchase his official releases and see him in concert. Let's hope this complete show including the between song banter makes it out one day on Bob's own "bootleg" series Until someone gets a better version...
