Simon Moulds notes: The date/venue is doubtful as:
1 - the Fillmore West didn't open until late '68. (although there was a Fillmore Auditorium in 1967; the similar names cause confusion)
2 - The original Fillmore doesn't list QMS as playing on this date (see the Fillmore Last Days booklet for every show played at the Fillmore & Fillmore West, also the Artrock book shows the poster for this date with no mention of QMS).
If the date is correct, then the venue is likely to be elsewhere. If the venue is correct, then the date is wrong. I'm not complaining, it's a nice recording but I AM curious to know when and where it's really from. Any ideas?
Steve Keyser's list show this date as being at Fillmore West but only a 45 minutes recording. It therefore seems unlikely that this show took place at the Fillmore West.
Update: It's now confirmed, that this is a bogus date. By reference to Wolfgang's Vault it's now clear that the first set took place on 09/04/66 and the second on 11/20/66 both at the Fillmore Auditorium

| Notes: | Mono Soundboard. Venue is correct, as Graham's voice in the introduction is obvious. Jim Murray is introduced on harmonica on "If You Live", which places the concert before their 1st album in 1968. My recording has 16 tracks with an interesting version of Smokestack Lightning with different words and two additional tracks not on the set list, "All Night Worker" and "Pride of Man." This is a very good concert. | |||||
