Notes:
Digitally remastered using a custom built, Dual-DAW, nicknamed Bertha, by jashley@deadacated.com. Completed on October 8, 2004.
Kudos to Rob for a wonderful transfer.
Although the transfer is excellent, the source is midee sounding, and unfortunately, is a "kick mix." The entire spectrum was shifted to make for a fuller, and more even sound at flat setting. Unfortunately, the low bass had to be restrained to keep the kick from being too obtrusive. Bertha Remasters are recorded to be played flat.

Please be aware that Jay used the source that Rob Eaton and I put togeter, equalized it and called it a "Bertha" remaster. Jay conveniently left all the work I did out of his "source" info.. No credit at all for the AUD patches I did...etc. Also this can be considered a false listing of the source data since he does not mention work already done to the file...
He even had the nerve to directly copy information from My info file and not mention it...including a typo of mine in D3T07!

Correct source info is below... before Jay messed with it..

Digital encoding and DBX decoding by Rob Eaton

Here is how Rob did his part:
Master 1/2 trk 7" reels @7.5ips (DBX encoded)->
PCM beta digital->Sony 2500 dat->
DB Technologies DB3000S for digital emphisis decode->
DB Technologies 924 for D->A conversion->

Master Clone (panasonic Sv3700->Sv3800 via AES interlink)
Here is what the Wiz did:
Rob's DAT clone>Tascam DA-20 mkII>Digital Audio Labs Card Deluxe>WAVE>
Diamond Cut Audio DC-6 (for editing)>WAVE>CD and SHN.
Here is what was used for the AUD patches:
AudMC > DAT > Soundforge > CDWAV > SHN
Taper: Steve Rolfe Sony ECM 33P mic > TC-152 deck
A > D transfer by Noah Weiner - November, 2001
AudMC played back on a Nakamichi MR-1 > Fostex D5 (A>D only)
Soundforge was used for normalizing and editing.
Note: US Blues encore from an unknown SBD source. DBX reel source was unusable.
Summary of editing:
Rob's decode was masterful and made my job easy. Nothing was done to the sound
of the DBX decoded material. Just cleaned up a few issues and made AUD patches.
Cut after Peggy-O cleaned up - Aud source cut there also so no patch available...
Over the top guitar chord at start of Half-Step toned down a bit to save ears...
Two small gliches in Half-Step repaired.
Cut in Tuning after Tennessee Jed patched with AUD source.
Two small pops in Music corrected.
Tuning at start of Set Two patched from AUD source.
Small glich in Estimated repaired
Cut in Tuning after Estimated patched with AUD source.
Pop in Wharf Rat corrected.
Cut in Around and Around patched with AUD source.
Cut in Crowd before encore patched from AUD source.
About 10 bad pops removed from US Blues and it was Equalized
and gain adjusted to better match up with the rest.
All AUD patches were sonically adjusted to better match up and cross-faded
in to prevent a jarring change.

Thanks for the extended info, Wiz! This had already been crossreffed to the prev source, which does circulate with your specifics, and I've just added your credit into the comments part of the table on this entry too.

Deleted comments relevant to this version might be neutrally summarized as follows:
-In general the notion of giving full credit when possible is upheld by various posters. Re the music itself:
-User Alex: "if there is more bass and low-end you want, stick with the old SBD source. Apart from the patches, that?s the only difference here."
-Peter Teitelbaum, the person who "a) incessantly pestered Rob Eaton to remaster this show and b) connected Rob with The Wiz so that the lengthy and detailed work of installing Aud splices, cleanup etc. etc. etc. could be performed, finds Eaton/Wiz parent copy, "already just-about exactly perfect source", feels additional tweaks might be unnecessary.
-User JB: "In this case, the Rob/Wiz version sounds perfect to me, so I personally don't hear what Jay heard to determine that it needed to be remastered, but in general, Jay's works are usually at least a bit richer and fuller sounding than the originals he starts with and some are phenomenal improvements." JB also mentions Jay "has said repeatedly that he remasters stuff for himself, not the public, and then seeds it only because there's interest."
-People who have heard this copy may comment on its specific merits here. I may moderate as necessary. Thanks.

Attended this show with several friends from the University of Vermont. Great way to start summer vacation afer our freshman year. Along with another show from Ithaca College in the fall of 1976 (although Ithaca was MUCH MORE INTIMATE due to the small size of the college fieldhouse), these late '70s shows from the GD was the best I ever heard/attended, excepting (of course) those from the GDs' "jewel box period" of the earlier years of the sa,e decade...

Personally, I think this source is fantastic. Aside from the spots where AUD patches occur and the encore (which was patched from an alternate SBD source)the quality on this is as solid as any Dick's Picks I've heard. Just my $0.02.
