1. This is a fix of shnid 21923 where my Win98 machine w/ZA2
was on it's last leg. The channels on that source flew all over the place.
2. This differs from shnid 142 (Masse) in that there is no digital noize during Bertha, no dropout in Drums, no dropout at the beginning of the 2nd Other One, and no noise during the final 2 minutes of Wharf Rat.
3. Consistent with other copies, Casey Jones has a skip ~4 minutes in.
4. This time I left out the China Cat->IKYR, Tennessee Jed, and Jack
Straw patches. These can be dropped in from the Europe 72 CD. Buy it if
you don't own it. I skipped these track numbers for easy re-naming later. |

{I just got this show from the Frank's Picks round 4 tree. This date has apparently not yet been circulated on etree, so I'll upload it to your site if you'd like it. The tree also included 10-18 and 10-19, but these seem to have been circulated already. If anyone feels that these copies should be cuirculated as well, I'm happy to oblige.

Subject: Oct 1974 Winterland AUDs
The best sounding AUDs of this run (all 5 nights) were made by Charles Conner (sp?), using a Sony ECM-22P into a highly modified Sony mono portable. There is occasional wow/flutter, but the frequency response is great, and the hiss low.
I started the distribution of the "audiency"-sounding SBDs of the last three nights, in late 1976. They came to me on cassette, from Jerry Wexler's (of Atlantic Records fame) son or nephew, I forget the exact connection. I and about 4 others copied them to reel at that time, and copies have flowed since. Much more recently, SBDs of the 16th and 17th have surfaced, without the audience mix. I don't know if anyone has similar mixes of the last three nights for trade or listening.

Rather than have abrupt level changes where the tape starts and stops between songs a 0.5s fade out was followed by a 0.5s fade

{NOTES:
Several small dropouts and some diginoise were removed from the first set, all of which
were in between songs.
One spot of d/n in Samson was removed transparently. The end of
Day Job was patched from an alternate source.
All editing and patching of the source
done in Sound Forge 6.0 by Skankweed (skank@nycap.rr.com).
Discs were then retracked with
CD WAVE and verified with SHNTOOL.
I think this is glitch free, but please report any
problems to me so I can fix them.
I don't normally provide filler, but since the encore is also missing from the Silberman
recording of 10/21 I'm providing it here to get it into wider circulation.
This
version is from the same Sony source used to patch the encore on these discs.
Thanks to Duncan for providing the source discs.
Mastered and put into circulation 9/02 by Skankweed (skank@nycap.rr.com)
ive ommitted the filler once again from this source since both of these shows are available in this set..nothing else has been modified
with the exception of the last song & the hashmark(md5 checksum entry)removed

{...And yet another installment from the 'PA Deli Mike' project!!!
If a small, awesome-sounding venue like the Berkeley Community Theater is your bag, you
may wanna jump on this one! Mike recorded this from the front of the OTS
(Section 'CTR', row 'FF', seat '5' for those who are interested), and the SQ is just superb.
The Stella is 'stellar'. The only problem is Mike almost tore his hair out of his head trying
to decide where to put the track index for it!!
As with all of Mike's recordings, this source is new to circulation.
Hope you all enjoy it, and stay tuned for the next installment coming soon!!!

they were pieced back into a single .wav and re-tracked using CD-WAV.
#Fades were added in several positions (all during crowd noise) because
the Master Cassette was stopped during the crowd noise on multiple
occasions. Rather than have abrupt level changes where the tape starts

and a track break was placed during the silence.

(*) After analyzing the hiss, I am certain the original source contains at least two analog generations.
No noise reduction was
used in the remastering process.
Disc 2 to Disc 3 change is made between Space and The Wheel, and was made with no fades to
preserve a clean rejoining of tracks during the transfer to larger media.
The original SHS were uploaded to me by Tim Wiley.

No noise reduction preformed. No edit work preformed. Fades are present in between disks. There is a drop out somewhere on D1t8.
A Cass. flip on D2t4. The tracking might be off. Also some redundancy may be present between disk 1 and 2.

All you alert Beatles fans will note the "I Want to Tell You"
tease in the tune-up before Sugar Magnolia
Notes:
- I recut this show. Some of the cuts were slightly off and there
was 3 minutes of tuning prior to Sugar Magnolia.
- Just before "We'll be Back" there was a dropout. 00:01.796 was cut
out.
- Dropout in Foolish Heart repaired. It occurs around 1 minute into
the song. 00:00.12 was cut out.
- Between Drums and Space there was 00:00.603 of silence. I cut this
out to make d2 and d3 seemless.
- Between Sunshine Daydream and the encore there was a tiny skip. I
cut out 00:00.045 to make it a bit more seemless.
- Many pops and clicks taken out. Complete list in info file that comes with this set. |

{Cleaned up by Darryl Hinko using Cool Edit Pro. Thanks to Charlie
Miller for the original files. Most of the bass buzz is gone in
this source along with a bunch of other problems. Slight changes
to the tracking. Not that there were any problems with the
tracking, but I had to join everything together which meant I had
to recut it.

The microphone type may be incorrect. I contacted some German tapers and they have never heard of this one, but since this is the information that came to me with the dats we left it in the information file. The mics were borrowed to make these recordings and that is the name given to them by the owner.
Flaws:

d2t01-China: burst of digi static at 01:38-01:39 patched with unknown aud source seeded by Nick George

As most of us know tracking on the fly sucks(stand alone burner tracking)...
BUT this will be my last .No more EAC.
I'm going to use the R-44 for my transfers now.
I'm explaining this now because I didn't do a great job on this one.

listenable, but you'll notice the hiss in the quite parts. (Please
Note Edit comment below)
This show was EAC'd to SHN by Dan Carr on 12/10/01 as part of a series
of shows that I've been to but have not been seeded to etree in SHN
format. The sound quality is excellent. Enjoy!
Edit/ReSeeded to etree by Tim W. 4/3/02
Edit Comments: I reduced some of the hiss on the songs and heavy
reduction inbetween tracks. The hiss is impossile to remove without
destroying the highs on the recording. I also noticed major static
inbetween D1t6 and D1t7 I removed most of the static on D1t7 but there
still is some present for 2 tens of a second. D1t6 static removed
completely. D2t2 had a digital pop @ 4:24 that was removed. D3t1
D/O or Tape flip @ 10:58 removed. d3t5 is missing first couple of
notes in the song.
Enjoy!
