"In A Heartbeat Live - 1984" and "There's No Ersatz" bootleg, also circulates as 9-12-84 minus the last track. Broadcast on Westwood One - likely the source of the bootlegs.

Also circulates with a 1985 date, due to inclusion of this material in "The Cars '84-'85", but the only show they played in '85 was Live Aid.

Heartbeat City Tour

Rick Ocasek - Guitar, Vocals
Benjamin Orr - Bass, Vocals
Elliot Easton - Guitar, Vocals
Greg Hawkes - Keyboards, Vocals
David Robinson - Drums

Notes: They played on the 11th and 12th in Houston but this recording is definitely from the 11th. It is often erroneously listed as 9/12 and occasionally as Austin, TX '84. Sep. '85 is also often listed for this show (because the official video is called Live 84-85) but their only performance in '85 was at Live Aid. Quality is excellent, sourced from my own M- Westwood One 3-LP set and scrubbed with a VPI 16.5. Video of this show is missing a few songs depending on the source and is in a slightly different order.

Notes: The Cars Westwood One Superstar Concert Series The Summit Houston, Texas Sept. 11 or 12, 1984 Broadcast 1992 Excellent sound Pre-FM Lineage: silver cd > EAC secure mode> Cool Edit Pro 2.1 > Flac frontend After putting the tracks from the original disc on my hard drive, I edited out the commercials and DJ banter and added smooth transitions between some of the tracks with Cool Edit Pro 2.1. I am not exactly sure about the date that the show was recorded. The DJ Jim Ellis only refers to the band as playing in Houston during their '84 summer tour. I found that they played both 9/11 and 9/12/84 in Houston. These tracks may have been taken from one or both nights. If there are any Cars experts who see this, please set the rest of us straight. As always, enjoy! Tracklisting 1. Hello Again 2. It's Not The Night 3. Touch And Go 4. Candy-O 5. Good Times Roll 6. Jimmy Jimmy 7. Moving In Stereo 8. Just What I Needed 9. Dream Away 10. Drive 11. Notes: OK, here we go, it's 7 years later and these guys are still doing the same setlist. Can someone please explain why Ric O'Casek thought he was such a badass? But hey, they never sounded better. Or worse. In fact, they never really sounded any different no matter what. If you want a bunch of discs that all sound the same, get these. Get the entire set, collect them all. Be the first one on your block.

That was the quote of the day (120603). I got this show via trade. When I finally got the chance to listen to it, I found that it had the dreaded two second gaps between tracks. I tried using wavtrim, with no success. I went to the web to see if I could find a better copy. I could find no info at all about a show with this title. So, for the first time ever, I tried to manually remove the gaps using CD Wav Editor. After about three attempts (come on...I said this was the first time), I finally was able to come up with something my "perfectionist ass" could accept. It really is a GREAT (A+) show, I just wish that I had more info to pass on (i.e. venue, city, exact date) but I don't. If there is anyone out there that knows anything more, please email me. Please share this show with one and all on DC (don't change anything about it (i.e. folder name), that way it can get out there quicker), and let me know what you think.
