Steve recorded alongside Mick P who is R2. Back in 1983 Steve gave Careful53 the impression that he was sending a copy of his own recording. I consulted lordsnooty and Steve still has his R1 tapes, which are distinguished by the incomplete DSOTM. Perhaps Steve was looking after Mick's tapes at the time and chose to copy them for Careful53, knowing that they were a more complete representation of the concert. You can hear the same voices on both recordings. This sounds better than the Reeling version you are probably familiar with. DSOTM is complete and it appears that the only disadvantage to this copy is that it has about a minute less audience before OBC starts. Careful53's cassettes are arranged as follows: A 1-5, B 6, C 7 to opening of 15, D rewound a little to enable splicing, then continues through to 18. A fairly obtrusive 50Hz hum can be heard on all four sides of careful53's tapes and I tackled it using the learn and manual hum removal options on iZotope. Fractionally different settings were applied to each side. I'm grateful for tezeta's assistance. He used Reaper 5.17 w/ Elastique 3.1.4 Pro on normal to reduce the speed of side A by -.23 semitones. He also removed a bit of dead space, added some fades at side transitions, and spliced together the cut in ACYL. Careful53 cassettes / Neonknight tape transfer, July 2017 | |||||

| Notes: | "The White Bootleg" Source: Audience (recorder 2/patch from rec1 low gen) Generation: cass[M] > DAT(3) > WAV > CDR > FLAC > WAV > patch job > FLAC Sound Quality: EX+ for a 1973 recording From the master tapes of what is known as recorder 2 (same recorder as the source called '4th Gen'). This recorder is cut at the very end of ACYL, missing the end of this song and BD/Eclipse, so i patched those missing bits from the low generation source i have from recorder 1. One of These Days remains from the main source, the only bit edited out was 1:11m of audience/tunings before OOTD because it sounded very bad, as if the tape was very damaged really (some kind of channel dropping, or maybe just very heavy mic bumps). Sound is really good, an EX+ for a 1973 recording, one of the best from that year (if not the best), performance is good also. The patch job was made using SoundForge and CDWave to split the tracks, and encoding/md5 was done on Trader's Little Helper. No EQ/NR applied to this, apart of the patch job and some minimum fade in/out, this is as raw as russian winters. | |||||

| Jason | shn / 1 | View | 4th Gen tape | |||
| Notes: | This comes from a 4th Gen tape, and the sound is VG+. The crowd is very pleasant and quiet which is always nice. The speed is just a tad to fast but it isn't really that annoying (I do have a speed corrected version, but I do prefer a clean untouched source over one that has been remastered). The performance is just great. The middle section of CWTAE is just plain sick, one of the best primal screams you are going to hear from Roger!!! A great Echoes as well. Typical Dark Side set, there is a cut between the two parts of the set, most likely for a tape flip. | |||||
